New Campus

In September 2012, the Sugar Bowl Ski Team Foundation broke ground on a project to relocate SBA to a new ski-in/ski-out campus at Sugar Bowl Resort. Scheduled for completion in January 2014, Sugar Bowl Academy’s new campus project includes a new academic building housing eight classrooms, administrative offices, and faculty workspace; and a new, co-ed dormitory which will house 33 residential students and two faculty apartments. Additional features of the SBA’s new campus project will include a state of the art athletic facility in the heart of the Sugar Bowl Village -- being developed in conjunction with Sugar Bowl Corporation -- and the repurposing of SBA’s current classrooms into coaches offices and additional locker room space. The facilities will allow SBA to accommodate recent growth and ultimately the athletic and academic needs of a student body of up to 75.

The Sugar Bowl Ski Team Foundation has planned a multi-phased project to accommodate the pace of construction and fundraising. Each phase dovetails with the next to create a unique campus to match the quality and uniqueness of the Academy’s program.

Sugar Bowl Academy’s new campus project will include:

New academic building housing:

  • a total of eight classrooms (two of which will be state-of-the-art science labs)
  • an open resource area where students will gather and study during free periods
  • administrative offices

New co-ed dormitory:

  • dorm rooms for 33 student-athletes arranged in doubles, triples or quads
  • two faculty apartments
  • a student lounge area for boarding students to gather and eat breakfast
  • ski storage and tuning facilities for boarding students

New athletic training center, the Sporthaus, built in conjunction with Sugar Bowl Corporation

Existing modular classroom buildings will house:

  • casual meeting spaces for students and staff
  • additional ski storage and tuning facilities for day students
  • physiological treatment room

Use of the Village Hall for assemblies and dining

A new campus in the Sugar Bowl Village will completely transform the Sugar Bowl Academy experience - unifying the entire Academy and Ski Team community and providing a more professional place for SBA students and staff to live and learn.
